Job Title: Part-Time Spanish and Support Teacher (Grades K-5)

Hours: 20 hours/week

Reports To: Academic Director

Location: Sky Island School of Nature and the Arts

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:15am-1:45pm

Start Date: October 14, 2025

Job Summary

Sky Island School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Part-Time Spanish and Support Teacher to provide Spanish language instruction and academic support for students in grades K–5. The ideal candidate will have strong classroom management, be fluent in Spanish, and demonstrate a commitment to supporting students of all learning levels. This position involves teaching Spanish in 30-minute blocks per grade level, supporting students in a variety of academic areas, and working collaboratively with teachers and administrators. This role offers the opportunity for future growth into a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate 30-minute Spanish lessons to students in grades K–5.

  • Provide academic support to students across grade levels in various subjects as needed.

  • Design, implement, and assess lesson plans aligned with school curriculum and language learning objectives.

  • Manage student behavior effectively using positive and proactive classroom management strategies.

  • Support a wide variety of learners, including those with diverse needs and language abilities.

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to support student success.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required.

  • Demonstrate dedication to the mission, values, and community of the school.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation.

  • Ensure classroom materials and learning environments are well-organized and conducive to learning.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) required.

  • Prior teaching or instructional experience with elementary-aged students preferred.

  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity with second language acquisition strategies is a plus.

  • Must hold or be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, or related field preferred (but not required depending on experience).

  • This is a part-time, hourly position (20 hours/week).

  • There is potential for the role to grow into a full-time position based on performance and school needs.
